MT4 Trading Journal

Import your MetaTrader 4 history from the statement MT4 already saves. Closed trades, commission, swap, deposits and withdrawals land in one journal with your expectancy, drawdown and patterns worked out.

What the MT4 import brings in

Import the statement MT4 already makes

Save a Detailed Report from Account History and upload the .htm file. Nothing to install in MT4 and no password to share. Every closed trade comes in with symbol, side, lots, open and close times and prices.

P&L exactly as your broker reports it

Profit, commission, taxes and swap come straight from the statement, so net P&L in your journal matches the P&L on your MT4 statement.

Deposits and withdrawals included

Balance operations on the statement are added to the account's cash flows, so your balance curve and returns account for money you moved in and out. Broker credit is listed but kept out of your balance, as MT4 does.

One trade per position, safe re-uploads

A position you closed in parts shows up as one trade. Upload a newer statement that overlaps the last one and only the new trades and cash flows are added.

How to import your MT4 history

  1. In MetaTrader 4, open the Terminal window and the Account History tab.
  2. Right-click and choose All History, or the period you want.
  3. Right-click again and choose Save as Detailed Report. MT4 saves an .htm file.
  4. In ExpectancyIQ, open Import, pick MetaTrader 4 and choose that file. The account is set up from the statement, with no column mapping.

You see every trade in a preview before anything is saved, and any import can be undone from Settings. Full steps with screenshots are in the Help centre.

What you get from your MT4 trades

Once your history is in, the trading dashboard shows your expectancy per trade, win rate, profit factor and drawdown, and Reports break results down by symbol, session, weekday, holding time and position size. You can tag setups and mistakes on each trade and see which ones cost you money.

MT4 import questions

Which MT4 file do I upload?

The Detailed Statement: in Account History, right-click, choose Save as Detailed Report, and upload the .htm file as saved. A CSV export from your broker's website also works through the Generic CSV import.

What if I upload a statement into the wrong account?

The first statement links a journal account to its MT4 login. After that, a statement for a different login is refused, and statements for the same login go to the linked account automatically.

Are open positions and pending orders imported?

No. Only closed trades are imported. Cancelled pending orders are skipped, and a position that is still open, including the open part of a partly closed position, comes in once you upload a statement where it is closed.

What timezone are MT4 statement times in?

Your broker's server time. On the Check & import step, set Times to the timezone your broker's server uses so your session and time-of-day stats line up.

Does it work with MetaTrader 5?

Not yet. MetaTrader 5 reports use a different layout, and support for them is still being built. Until then, MetaTrader 4 statements and CSV exports are supported.

Is MT4 import included in the free trial?

Yes. Statement import works during the 14-day free trial and on Pro, within your plan's account limit.
